2008 SERB FEST BRINGS A TASTE OF EASTERN EUROPE TO THE VALLEY
September 22, 2008 (Phoenix, AZ) Take a cultural excursion to Eastern Europe and leave your passport behind. Serb Fest 2008 will host a weekend filled with authentic Serbian food, pastries, music and live dance performances on Saturday, November 1st and Sunday, November 2, 2008 at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church and Cultural Center, 4436 East McKinley Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85008, half a mile south of the 202 and one block east of 44th Street.
The 6th annual event will feature delicious homemade Serbian favorites such as spit roasted lamb and pig; sarma, or cabbage rolls; chevaps, a Serbian grilled sausage; palachinke, or crepes; pastries including gibanica, a mouthwatering savory pie of phyllo dough and feta; handmade nut rolls, tortes, and cookies.
Indulge your other senses throughout the weekend with live Serbian folk music and dance performances on the center stage, a Bazaar Walk offering Serbian handiwork, books, CDs and unique cultural gifts for sale, and guided church tours for a closer look at Orthodox Christian religious art. Kids can enjoy carnival games and rides in the Fun Zone.
Serb Fest is open to the public with admission just $2 for adults, and free for kids under 12 years of age.
